AperioHub Connect
Two engagement types
AperioHub Connect pairs high school students with Insider Mentors for structured, one-to-one support. Two engagement types are available. Both are fully managed by AperioHub.
You guide a student through a focused research question - helping them think rigorously, work methodically, and produce a tangible output. Engagements run across approximately ten sessions with one student.

Domains: Life Sciences & Biomedical, Economics & Finance, AI & Machine Learning, Neuroscience & Psychology, Environmental Science & Sustainability, Applied Data & Analytics.

You work with a student on a specific subject or curriculum area - finding the precise gap and closing it. Sessions are booked individually and continue for as long as they are delivering value.

Session structure
How a session works
Sessions follow a consistent rhythm. Content is led by where the project is, not a fixed curriculum.
Opening - 5 min. Recap since last session; any questions from the student.
Core work - 40 min. Review progress; introduce next direction; work through the student's thinking.
Task setting - 10 min. Agree one specific task for the student before the next session.
Close - 5 min. Confirm the next session time; address any open questions.

Session 1 Foundation
Orientation - getting acquainted, walking through the project, aligning on scope and working style, and agreeing a weekly time slot. A brief introductory segment may include the student's counselor or family.
~10
Final Session Completion
Reflection and handoff. Review the student's final output, acknowledge the arc of the engagement, and share observations on their strengths and what to build on next.
Subject Tutoring sessions are targeted. No project arc to manage - the structure is simpler each time.
Opening - 5 min. Confirm what the student wants to work on - topic, question type, past paper, or exam technique.
Core work - 45 min. Work through the gap directly - explain, demonstrate, test understanding, correct - at the student's pace.
Close - 10 min. Recap what was covered. Suggest one or two things to practise before next session.
Session log - after. Submit your log via the engagement page once the session is complete.
Prep is targeted. Review the student's level and any gaps shared at booking. You do not need to prepare a lesson plan - the session follows the student's needs in real time.
What is expected
Your responsibilities
Arrive prepared
Review what the student shared at booking and know what you plan to cover. No lecture or presentation required - sessions follow the student's needs.
Submit your session log
A brief log submitted via the engagement page after each session. Both your log and the student's log are required for a session to be counted as completed for payment.
Join sessions via a Gmail account
Sessions run on Google Meet. Automatic recording and AI notes require all participants to join with a Google (Gmail) account. If your university email is not Google-backed, use your personal Gmail. AperioHub confirms this before your first session.
Route queries through AperioHub
Any matter outside of the session - questions, concerns, or updates - goes through AperioHub. Scheduling coordination with the student directly is fine.
Working with student-age participants
All AperioHub Connect students are high school age. If anything comes up during a session that gives you pause, contact AperioHub promptly. You are not expected to handle it alone, and should not reach out directly to the student's family.
Compensation

Rates below are indicative. AperioHub manages client acquisition, matching, scheduling, infrastructure, and coordination - the session fee reflects this fully managed model. Your confirmed rate is shared in writing before your first session.

Indicative - confirmed by AperioHub
Session by session - no fixed arc. Each session is paid individually once completed and logged by both parties.
Payment
Monthly via Wise
Payment covers all sessions completed and logged in the prior calendar month. US-based mentors receive payment via ACH to their US bank account. International mentors receive payment via Wise transfer. Bank details are collected before your first payment.
What counts as a completed session
A session is counted as completed once both your log and the student's log are submitted via the engagement page. Sessions are assessed by AperioHub where there is any question on completion.
Independent contractor basis
Mentors are engaged as independent contractors. You are responsible for your own tax obligations in your country of residence.
Communication protocol
Channels & boundaries
-
Sessions - all substantive interaction with the student, via the AperioHub-provided video link.
-
Scheduling - direct coordination with the student to agree session times is fine.
-
Everything else - through AperioHub. Do not contact the student's family or counselor directly.
Personal channels. Direct personal contact with the student outside of sessions - social media, personal email, or similar - is not appropriate. Keeping interaction within the engagement structure protects both mentor and student.
If anything comes up during a session that gives you pause, contact AperioHub afterwards. You are not expected to handle it alone.
Session infrastructure
Technology & sessions
AperioHub provides and manages all session infrastructure. You need a reliable internet connection, a quiet space, and a Gmail account.
Video sessions
Sessions currently run on Google Meet. A standing link is provided per engagement - the same link is used every session. If the platform changes, AperioHub will brief you before your next session.
Recording & AI notes
Sessions are recorded automatically. AI-generated notes and transcripts are produced after each session and stored by AperioHub.
Scheduling
A scheduling tool is provided. The student books from your available slots. You manage your availability; AperioHub handles the setup.
📧
Use a Gmail account to join every session. Google Meet recording and AI notes are only activated when participants join with a Google account. If your university email is not Google-backed, use your personal Gmail. AperioHub will confirm this before your first session.
Why sessions are recorded
The student can revisit any explanation before the next session or before an exam - a core part of the AperioHub Connect offering.
Recordings provide a clear record of what was covered and agreed, protecting both mentor and student in the event of any question.
All students are high school age. Recordings serve as a safeguarding reference for all parties.
Recordings are stored securely by AperioHub for a minimum of 90 days. Consent is included in the engagement confirmation.
Reputation
Ratings & your mentor profile
After each session, feedback is collected from the student's side and contributes to your AperioHub Connect profile. Your aggregate rating is the primary factor in priority allocation for future engagements.
★★★★★
Ratings accumulate into an overall engagement score. A strong profile opens the door to more engagements and improved rate consideration over time.
Mentor showcase. Once you have completed your first engagement, AperioHub may - with your consent - feature your profile on the AperioHub Connect mentor page. If you prefer not to be named, a no-names profile brief is used by default. Inclusion is opt-in; let AperioHub know your preference.
Compliance
Work authorisation
Valid work authorisation required
Mentors are engaged as independent contractors. You must hold valid work authorisation in your country of residence to receive compensation. Please be prepared to share documentation before your first payment is processed. If you are on a student visa, confirm your eligibility for freelance work with your university's International Student Office before accepting an engagement.
What you build
Beyond the session fee
The compensation is real and paid reliably. Mentors who get the most from these engagements recognise what else they are building alongside it.
A verified credential
Citable on LinkedIn and your CV as Mentor, AperioHub Connect. Backed by a confirmed engagement record and session ratings - not self-reported.
Communication skills
Explaining a complex subject to a motivated student sharpens how you think and communicate - skills that matter in interviews, presentations, and graduate study.
Letter of recommendation
A completed engagement gives AperioHub direct visibility into your depth, preparation, and reliability. Mentors who complete an engagement well may request a letter from AperioHub's founder.
Ongoing engagements
New students are added on a rolling basis. Mentors with a strong record are given priority for future engagements across both engagement types.
Your credential develops as your engagement history grows:
Entry
Insider Mentor
Awarded on your first confirmed engagement. Citable from day one.
Experienced
Senior Mentor
Reflects a track record of completed engagements and consistently strong feedback.
Advanced
Lead Mentor
For mentors with a sustained record across multiple engagement types and strong ratings throughout.
Tier progression is assessed by AperioHub based on engagement history and ratings - not time on the platform.
